Kylian Mbappe, France's 2026 World Cup and Real Madrid superstar, has long been a part of the Nike brand's stable of athletes that includes all-time greats such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and so many more. Now, he is leaving the iconic global brand to join fellow French legend Thierry Henry in endorsing an upstart Swiss shoe brand, On.
âÂÂReal Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has quit his long-term relationship with Nike to become the face of Swiss company OnâÂÂs first expansion into football boots,â The Athletic's Adam Crafton reports. âÂÂOn has also hired former France and Arsenal star Thierry Henry as the firmâÂÂs Director of Football. Henry has been secretly working in the role since 2025 and played a role in convincing Mbappe, 27, to join upon the expiration of his contract with Nike this summer.âÂÂ
After the news broke, Mbappe took to social media to share his first thoughts on the move from Nike to On, and those musings were quite poetic.
âÂÂDream On, Football.
I still dream of playing football.
That might surprise you, coming from someone who plays it for a living.
But itâÂÂs true.
I still dream of playing with my friends.
Playing until sunset. Until dinner.
Playing just because it was a game, long before it could become a career.
I have followed this dream for as long as I can remember.
Article Continues BelowOnce again it has led me to one of the biggest changes in my life.
Now, I find myself surrounded by innovators who dream of the same things I do.
Of bringing foot as close as possible to ball.
Of bringing the people as close as possible to the game.
Of bringing the world as close as possible to play.
I guess thatâÂÂs the thing about dreams that refuse to change.
TheyâÂÂre usually the ones that change everything.
Dream On.âÂÂ
Getting Mbappe is quite a coup for On, as the 27-year-old is one of the most famous and marketable stars in the world. It will be interesting to see if the On-Henry-Mbappe partnership can reel in any other global sensations.
