After two relatively underwhelming seasons, the New York Knicks are reportedly declining third-year guard Pacome Dadiet’s contract option for the 2027-28 season, as per Shams Charania of ESPN. The decision will make Dadiet an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, although Charania did hint that this does not close the door on the French native ultimately returning to the team.

The No. 25 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Knicks, Pacome Dadiet was still playing on his rookie scale contract as he entered his third season in the league. If the organization would have picked up his contract option, he would have hit restricted free agency in the summer of 2028.

Despite being a first round pick, Dadiet has yet to make a meaningful impact on the team. Across his first two seasons in the NBA, he has never averaged more than six minutes per game, while playing in a grand total of 47 games. This year, he’s appeared in only one game for the Knicks in which he played a single minute.
