The Golden State Valkyries are on the cusp of history, moving one win away from winning their first title after beating the Atlanta Dream, 64-55, in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals on Monday at Chase Center.

Veronica Burton had 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and four blocks, while Kiah Stokes added 13 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

The Valkyries were fueled by the crowd's energy. With Game 6 scheduled for an early start at State Farm Arena on Thursday, Burton and Stokes made a simple request to their fans, as reported by ESPN's Kendra Andrews.

“Burton and Stokes recommend folks call in sick to work Thursday to watch the 9:30 a.m. tip-off on Thursday,” wrote Andrews.

She noted that Stokes added a hilarious quip.

“Y'all know how to fake-cough,” said the talented center.

Turning serious, Stokes, who is in her first year in Golden State, stressed that they have a no-more-tomorrow mindset heading into Game 6.

“It's a close-out game. Atlanta is a great team, and we don't want to give them any life. As much as we love Ballhalla, we don't want to come back here. We need the mentality that we have to win. It's do or die,” added Stokes.

She logged three blocks for the sixth straight time, tying Lisa Leslie's record for the longest streak in the playoffs.

Coach Natalie Nakase stressed that they cannot be overcomplacent despite seizing control of the best-of-seven series.

While they will be on the road, the Valkyries will be motivated to finish off the Dream, knowing that their fans are rallying behind them.
