Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski did not have much of an update on Michael Penix Jr. immediately after Sunday’s loss to the Ravens after the quarterback suffered a rib injury late in the fourth quarter.

Stefanski said he anticipates knowing more in the coming days after Penix undergoes imaging.

Penix was hit hard in the side on a sack as the Falcons were going through a two-minute drill with the game tied at 23-23.

While Penix came off the field for one play, he returned to throw an incomplete pass on third down before Atlanta punted.

“He was trying to work to get comfortable and could not,” Stefanski said in his press conference.

Tua Tagovailoa then replaced Penix again in overtime. But that appearance was short lived, as Tagovailoa tossed an interception to Kyle Hamilton on the second play of the possession, sealing the loss.

Penix completed 19-of-32 passes for 240 yards with a touchdown before exiting the contest.

“I thought, versus a tough defensive front, tough coverage, I thought made some plays,” Stefanski said. “Like every quarterback, you’re not going to make every play. But there’s things that he can certainly improve upon. But I thought he battled.”

The Falcons will play the Bears at home in Week 6.
