The Green Bay Packers are currently gearing up for Thursday night's game at home against the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers have played the first two games of the season without running back Josh Jacobs, who is on the Commissioner's exempt list after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage stemming from an arrest this past offseason.
Previously, it appeared that the NFL was blocked from seeing a video of the alleged incident, but now, the case has gotten a major update on that front.
“Judge Marc Hammer denied the request by the victim in the Josh Jacobs case to have the records permanently sealed and instead turned the matter back over to the Hobart/Lawrence police department, which is the custodian of the records,” reported NFL insider Rob Demovsky of ESPN NFL Nation on X, formerly Twitter.
“Any new requests for the records will be handled by the HLPD, which will determine whether it is considered fair to release those records. The victim or Jacobs will be granted time to appear if the HLPD decides to release the records.”
If the NFL were to be granted access to the video of the incident, it could certainly play a big role in how long Jacobs' eventual suspension might end up being.
The Packers have struggled out of the gate without him, losing in ugly fashion to the Minnesota Vikings before needing overtime to beat the New York Jets.
Their game vs the Falcons is slated to kick off on Thursday at 8:15 pm ET from Green Bay.
