As New York Jets star Minkah Fitzpatrick sustained a groin injury in the Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, 23-10, the team has made an addition to the active roster to add depth. With the timetable for the Jets' safety appearing to be an absence of two to three weeks, there's no wonder that the team wants to add more depth to the secondary.

New York announced on its social media channels that they have signed corner back Jordan Clark to the active roster after being on the practice squad. Besides him, the Jets would announce the signing of wide receivers Sterling Shepard, Tyler Johnson, and safety John Sanders to the practice squad, to go along with the releases of linebacker Jaden Keller and offensive lineman Xavier Newman.

“We've signed CB Jordan Clark to the active roster,” the Jets' official X, formerly Twitter, account wrote. “Additionally, we've signed WR Sterling Shephard, WR Tyler Johnson, and S John Saunders to the practice squad. We've also released LB Jaden Keller and OL Xavier Newman from the PS.”

Fitzpatrick only played six snaps in the Week 1 win over the Titans, as NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that he's expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a groin issue.

“Sources: Jets S Minkah Fitzpatrick, who suffered a groin injury during Sunday’s win over the Titans, is expected to miss 2–3 weeks,” Schultz wrote on X. “Fitzpatrick was a major addition to the defense this offseason but played just six snaps on Sunday.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Fitzpatrick comes back to New York as the team looks to keep the ship afloat with a Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
