The New York Jets suffered a disappointing 20-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers in overtime on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

New York carried a 17-7 lead into the fourth quarter after scoring 17 consecutive points, but Green Bay rallied to force overtime. The Jets failed to produce points on their opening possession of the extra period, going three-and-out before punting from their own 22-yard line on 4th-and-18. The Packers then moved from their 34-yard line into the red zone, where rookie Trey Smack converted a 26-yard field goal to end the game.

The loss left head coach Aaron Glenn highly frustrated with how his team finished the game.

“When it comes to this game, I'll be honest, I'm highly upset,” said Glenn. “Tough way to lose a game. There's a number of things that go through my head that, man, we have to fix… This loss is not gonna define who we are and what we're about; I will say that. And it's not okay, and our guys are gonna take it like that. It is not okay, but we have to get ready to move on to next week against another good opponent.”

The overtime decision to receive the opening kickoff drew attention. Under the overtime rules introduced before last season, both teams are guaranteed at least one offensive possession. The Jets' three-and-out gave Green Bay the opportunity to win the game on its first drive.

Moreover, the decision to go for it on fourth-and-1 near midfield with less than two minutes remaining also drew criticism, as did New York's coverage on the long punt return that helped set up the Packers' game-tying touchdown.

The loss leaves the Jets at 1-1 heading into their Week 3 road matchup against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 27.
