Jessie Bates scoop-and-score gives Falcons 7-3 lead over Ravens

The Ravens looked like they were going to extend their early lead over the Falcons with their second drive of the first quarter.

But then Atlanta’s defense put a stop to that with a game-changing play.

Sydney Brown Peanut punched the ball out of Mark Andrews’ grasp, with Jessie Bates picking it up for a 36-yard scoop-and-score.

With the extra point, the Falcons now lead 7-3 with 8:03 left in the first quarter.

It was the first fumble return for a touchdown of Bates’ career and his fifth total defensive touchdown.

With Lamar Jackson out due to an ankle injury, the Ravens have primarily been running the ball — and with much success. But the team could not get into the end zone on its first drive, settling for a 21-yard field goal from Tyler Loop.
