The Washington Commanders saw their starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels, go down with an elbow injury at the end of the first half against the Dallas Cowboys last week. Instead of people worrying about Daniels' injury, they seem to be more worried about how his teammates reacted to the injury.
In a clip that has gone viral, Daniels is seen getting medical attention while several of his teammates are walking past him. Usually when a player is injured, the team gets on one knee or crowds the player to see if they're alright. That led to some discourse on social media with claims that the Commanders are not fond of Daniels.
Offensive lineman Brandon Coleman was one of the first players to shut down that notion and says that Daniels is their guy.
“It's bulls— what people are saying,” Coleman said via ESPN's John Keim. “Jay's our guy and he's been our guy. There's no malice behind it.”
With the injury happening right before the half, players didn't know if they needed to go to the locker room or if they could stay out. Though there was footage of players walking away from Daniels, they were mostly waiting on the sidelines. Some ended up kneeling near the quarterback.
“I definitely felt some type of way about it. For people to say we don't care it kind of hurts because there's a lot of care. But I don't care what anyone says on the outside. We all care for our quarterback and we're all behind him on that moment. You can't go off a simple 10-second clip,” offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. said.
