It did not take long for the tension to boil over between the New York Giants and the Dallas CowboysÃÂ at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
In the first quarter, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart scrambled for a first down on their opening drive. But as he was going out of bounds, Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown delivered a strong hit. The Giants rushed to defend Dart, leading to a pushing and shoving match with the Cowboys.
Overshown was whistled for unnecessary roughness, leading to a 15-yard penalty for the Cowboys.

To recall, New York has been wary of the 23-year-old Dart always absorbing strong contact. Giants coach John Harbaugh urged him in training camp to avoid getting mauled. The second-year signal-caller had several trips to the blue tent in his rookie year.
As of this writing, the Giants have a comfortable lead against the Cowboys in the third quarter.
More details to come.
