I landed us a nice double last week with Thunder Call and First Law both doing the business. Hopefully more of the same on ITV this week with both Newbury and Ayr to get stuck into.
The Group 2 Mill Reef takes centre stage at Newbury and I canâÂÂt wait to see the unbeaten Arapaho Gold out again. Connections will be hoping he can win this and book his ticket for Champions Day at Ascot next month. Plus we also have the Ayr Gold Cup which is always a fascinating betting heat.

Newbury 1.02 Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes (Group 3) Class 1 (3yo+) 5f
A tricky opener to kick off ITV on Saturday as quite a few of these sprinters come here with a bit to prove. REDORANGE is no different as he failed to fire in the Nunthorpe last time. He did impress prior to that though and back down in grade here he could bounce back in a big way as when things drop right he is clearly plenty talented.
The favourite Starlust ran a cracker in the Nunthorpe finishing second and then only went down two lengths in Ireland last time so clearly arrives at the top of his game but little value in his price. First Instinct obviously won this last year but she needs to bounce back to that York form to get involved.
ð Bet on REDORANGE each way at 4/1 with SBK ðÂÂÂ
Ayr 1.20 Ladbrokes âÂÂBet ã5 Get ã30 New Customer Offerâ Handicap Class 2 (3yo+ 0-100) 1m
Mcmurray continues to go from strength to strength and will probably prove popular here bidding for a five-timer now but this is tougher again and he also lacks a run now.
SPOKEN TRUTH is the opposite as he has been kept busy all season and impressed getting his head back in front readily at Ripon last month. If he arrives in the same form he should go close.
Thunder Roar was a fair way behind the selection last time but eased again in the weights could show up better here and might even be one of the dangers.
Jim Goldie always does well at Ayr so Salam Dubawi is feared too as on his best form this season he would be a danger to all.
ð Bet on SPOKEN TRUTH each way at 6/1 with bet365 ðÂÂÂ
Newbury 1.37 Dubai Duty Free Autumn Cup Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Class 2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m51/2f
Plenty of these come here with a chance but FRENCH DUKE could be ready to strike again. He was denied just a nose at York last month and another effort like that would see him bang there in this. He is back up 5lb but remains lightly raced and everything looks in place for another big effort here.
Insanity showed more when sixth beaten less than four lengths at Ascot last month and if building on that again could get involved. Primo Lara has won three of his last four now and has Ryan Moore booked so should get seriously competitive again.
ð Bet on FRENCH DUKE each way at 11/2 with Midnite ðÂÂÂ
Ayr 1.55 Ladbrokes âÂÂGet Racing Bet Builder Winnings Boostsâ Doonside Cup Stakes (Listed Race) Class 1 (3yo+) 1m2f
I donâÂÂt think the track suited ICE MAX at Epsom when last seen. He seemed to cruise into the race before finding little for pressure. He has been given time and now up in trip with this track likely to suit better he could be ready to strike again. On his best form he is a very useful operator and he is unexposed over a mile and a quarter too.
Fast Tracker represents Wathnan Racing and he didnâÂÂt run badly when third to Zavateri at Goodwood last month. If he builds on that he could have a squeak here. High Stock could have more to come and along with Sea Scout could be fighting it out for the places.
ð Bet on ICE MAX to win at 11/4 with bet365 ðÂÂÂ
Newbury 2.12 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes (Group 2) (In Honour Of Ian Balding) Class 1 (2yo) 6f
IâÂÂm expecting ARAPAHO GOLD to be all the rage here. He is yet to taste defeat and I thought he was impressive how he gathered himself up and went again to get on top at York last month. He clearly has an engine and will probably get further than 6f in time.
The horse he beat Final Objective has won at Doncaster since so his form continues to work out well.
Jolivette was an excellent third to Libertango in the Lowther and the second Star Of State has won as expected since so she looks the danger.
Nabati was a bit underwhelming when third at Doncaster but this drop back in trip is a good move and he looks best of the rest.
ð Bet on ARAPAHO GOLD to win at 6/5 with BoyleSports ðÂÂÂ
Ayr 2.30 Ladbrokes Ayr Silver Cup Handicap Class 2 (3yo+) 6f
After a string of consistent efforts HAVANA BLUE was finally back to winning ways at Newmarket last month.
He proved that was no fluke following up with a bit to spare in a good race at Ascot last time and while this demands more he may well prove up to the task. He is a sprinter in winning form and looks worth keeping on side.
Lots of dangers in a race as competitive as this but probably headed by Desert Falcon who ran well when sixth behind Air Force One at Doncaster and if building on that could run a big race.
Deep Havana showed a good attitude to win at Thirsk and while he is in deeper waters here he is unexposed so could have more to come for this stable.
ð Bet on HAVANA BLUE each way at 9/1 with Paddy Power ðÂÂÂ
Newbury 2.47 Dubai Duty Free Handicap (GBBPlus Race) Class 2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m2f
Sir Mark Prescott remains in great form so ALMEKAREM could take a lot of stopping here. He looked back to his best winning at Doncaster last time and with a lot of pace on again here he could get a perfect trip into the race. He has more to come yet especially at this trip so is worth backing to follow up.
Boyfriend has been holding his form really well since winning at Sandown and back up in trip again looks a big player. Both Stem and Mr Swivell make appeal in terms of hitting the frame. I expect this race to work out quite well going forward so Notebooks at the ready.
ð Bet on ALMEKAREM each way at 9/2 with bet365 ðÂÂÂ
Ayr 3.05 Ladbrokes âÂÂNew Customers Get 50/1 Old Firm Offerâ Firth Of Clyde (Challenge Cup) (Group 3) (Fillies) Class 1 (2yo) 6f
It was very much gamble landed for SILENT BEAUTY at Ripon last month. She was always in a good position and only really needed to be shaken up to put the race to bed.
She was much the best that day and while this is tougher stepping up to Group company she has untapped potential and I expect her to improve again. The ground looks like itâÂÂll be perfect with plenty of rain about and she is one to keep on side.
Dark Issue was only beaten half a length at Salisbury last time and if building on that could be the danger. Ruby Moon impressed winning on debut and has been highly tried since.
These are slightly calmer waters so she is another one I can see running well and she might be worth backing without the favourite.
ð Bet on SILENT BEAUTY to win at 7/4 with Sky Bet ðÂÂÂ
Ayr 3.40 Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup (Heritage Handicap) Class 2 6f
Time for the Ayr Gold Cup and as always it is a brilliant betting contest! There are any of seven or eight that could win this and donâÂÂt be put off if you want to back two or three against the field especially with the amount of places on offer.
I like TWILIGHT CALLS as he sneaks in at the bottom of the weights and has been in red-hot form this season winning three times. He ran right up to form beaten just half a length at Doncaster latest and he still looks ahead of his mark off just a 1lb higher mark here.
Binhareer is the obvious one as he looks well treated back in a handicap. I wouldnâÂÂt want to take a short price in a race like this though.
Dance In The Storm looked good at Chester and then was only a length or so behind Sounded at York so arrives in good order and should get involved.
Plenty of others to note including Tuco Salamanca and at a bigger price Stratusnine.
ð Bet on TWILIGHT CALLS each way at 10/1 with bet365 ðÂÂÂ
My top tip for ITV Racing on Saturday
Really looking forward to seeing unbeaten sprinter ARAPAHO GOLD out again and I have doubled him up with SILENT BEAUTY who still has untapped potential and can improve again to win the Firth Of Clyde.
ð Bet a Win Double on ARAPAHO GOLD and SILENT BEAUTY at 9/2 with bet365 ðÂÂÂ
