Coach Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles Chargers came into Week 2 with high hopes, which were dashed by the Las Vegas Raiders casting doubt on the Harbaugh-Justin Herbert partnership. The Raiders won 26-14 in a game that saw veteran journeyman Kirk Cousins outplay the golden-armed superstar Herbert, whose talented teammate Omarion Hampton also faltered with a late fumble.

Afterward, Herbert was asked whether there is a feeling of anger among the Chargers, who have routinely failed to live up to admittedly high expectations.

“No, I don't think so,” he replied according to ESPN's Kris Rihm. “I think it's not good enough and there's a group full of grown men that can handle their job and they're going to do everything they can to correct it and fix it and we're going to stick together and it's tough. No one wants to lose two games, but there's nothing we can do about it now so we got to get better and fix it.”

Herbert, whose star teammate Derwin James called for ‘brutal honesty” after the loss, was asked by Rihm to expound upon his feelings.

“I think it's just going out there and making sure that we have a game next week and got to be at our best for that game because they're a very good team and there's nothing we can do to change the past two weeks. So it's on us to fix our stuff, make sure that we're ready to go for next week.”

September 27's Week 3 game at Buffalo will provide a bigger stage, and challenge, for Herbert and his teammates. A win would go a long way toward restoring faith, but a loss could be disastrous for Herbert and Harbaugh's present, and future, championship hopes.
