With the Los Angeles Dodgers getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS, the team heads into the winter looking to retool to get back to World Series contention. As the Dodgers enter a crucial offseason, this MLB insider would go over what the team needs to improve and a trade that could bring them right back to top dog status.
Speaking on “Foul Territory,” former MLB general manager and insider Jim Bowden expresses that the flaws of Los Angeles that were prominent were the “age and the lack of athleticism.” Specifically, the team needs to be younger and more athletic at positions such as second base, left field, and third base.
“When they don't slug, they don't manufacture runs because it's an older team,” Bowden said. “When I looked at the Dodgers closely, I look at it and say, can they come back next year and be there? The answer is yes. Of course, it is. Bring Skubal back if you can. And look, Betts and Freeman aren't done. They still got time left. I think the three areas that I would say they need to get younger and more athletic are second base, left field, and third base.”

Insider proposes trade with the Dodgers and the Nationals
Article Continues BelowWith Bowden speaking more about the Dodgers needing to bring in players that can “manufacture runs” and “get some more speed,” he would propose a trade with the Washington Nationals that gives Los Angeles C.J. Abrams and James Wood.
“If the Nationals aren't going to sign James Wood and C.J. Abrams long term,” Bowden continued. “Then I suggested an eight-player trade, where the Dodgers could trade starters, Justin Wrobleski and Emmett Sheehan. They could trade their phenom Jose De Paula, who could DH for them immediately. Outfielder Mike Sirota, infielder Alex Freeland, and catcher Dalton Rushing, all six guys to Washington for Abrams to play second and James Wood to play left field. It's a dream trade, probably doesn't happen, but that's the kind of deal they need.”
It remains to be seen how the Dodgers improve in the offseason.
