The winning ways continue for the Houston football team aside from the narrow loss to Texas Tech earlier in the season, as the latest victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 35-32, once again showed quarterback Conner Weigman's talent. With the Houston football team led by head coach Willie Fritz, he would speak about how NFL scouts need to listen to him about Weigman.

In the win for the No. 20 Cougars over No. 18 Cowboys, Weigman played like a superstar, throwing for 343 yards with a whopping five touchdown passes and one interception to go along with 52 rushing yards. As the senior quarterback impressed, Fritz would speak after the game about Weigman and his “readiness” to be at the professional level.

“Willie Fritz talks about how valuable Conner Weigman is at QB and mentions his pro readiness: ‘Some of those NFL guys, they don't listen to me,'” Steve Helwick wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

So far this season, Weigman has thrown for 1,771 yards to go along with 20 touchdowns and two interceptions, while on the ground, he has rushed for 229 yards with six scores.

Oklahoma State head coach praises Houston football's Conner Weigman

Weigman was so stupendous for the Houston football team on Saturday that even the opposing head coach for Oklahoma State, Eric Morris, couldn't help but praise the player.

“I thought he was phenomenal tonight…I thought he put it in some tight windows, man-to-man coverage, put it on some spots that gave his players the chance to make plays…I just think he's improved so drastically over the course of the last year and a half,” Morris said, via Chris Baldwin.

It was a battle of talented quarterbacks in the game as the Cowboys had Drew Mestemaker, who threw for 365 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. However, Weigman outshone Mestemaker in the heated contest, which led to the big win for the Cougars.

The win brings the Houston football program to a 6-1 record, 3-1 in Big 12 conference play, as the team looks to win their fifth straight game against No. 11 Utah on Saturday night, Oct. 24, as Weigman looks to lead the Cougars once again.
