Not only did the Cleveland Guardians lose 7-3 to the Chicago White Sox on Monday, but two key outfielders suffered injuries during the game. Both Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez felt discomfort on swings during the contest. According to MLB.com, DeLauter (right wrist soreness) and Martinez (right flank inflammation) are day to day.

Neither player is in Wednesday's lineup. Steven Kwan, Petey Halpin and Jo Adell are holding down the outfield from left to right amid DeLauer and Martinez's injury absences.

Updates on DeLauter and Martinez's injury statuses will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.

Cleveland now trails Chicago by 1.5 games for first place in the American League Central standings. The Guards could have taken hold of first place with a win on Monday, but a six-run sixth inning — which was sparked by a Tristan Peters 18-pitch at-bat — led the Sox to a huge victory.

However, the Guards could realistically be in first place by the conclusion of the three-game series if they win the next two games at home. Accomplishing that feat will obviously be easier said than done. Regardless of what happens over the next two days, this series will go a long way toward determining which ball club ends up winning the AL Central this year.

The Guardians will attempt to get back on track with a pivotal win on Tuesday night. First pitch for the ball game between the AL Central rivals is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
