Earlier this year, ex-AEW and WWE wrestler Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger, signed a new deal with Power Slap. Power Slap is co-owned by Zuffa, LLC founder Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White.

Since signing with the promotion, Hager, 44, has competed in a total of three fights, of which he has won just one. He won his debut fight against Devin Jenkins, but lost the second fight to Amanpreet Singh. He recently faced Johnny Magna (an independent pro wrestler for NWA New Mexico) in Lubbock, Texas. However, he again suffered a brutal loss.

Magna’s hard slap left Hager bleeding in the face and eye. Although Hager argued that he was struck in the eye and the slap should have been called a foul, the fight was continued, and the official result declared Magna the winner by referee stoppage [TKO].

Fans were left horrified by the visual and let their concerns known. “This sport is absolutely nonsense and puts the athletes in horrible risk,” wrote one person. Jake Hager on the possibility of getting injured at Power Slap

There are multiple injury risks associated with the sport of Power Slap. However, Hager is not afraid of getting one. Ahead of his Power Slap debut, Hager appeared in an interview with TMZ's Inside The Ring, where he opened up about the possibility of getting injured.

“I mean, you know what you signed up for. You’re signing up to get slapped and trying to slap someone back as hard as you can,” he said. “So I expect injuries to happen. I know UFC does a great job of covering all expenses related to the injuries. I’m not worried about it, to be honest.”

Hager has prior experience in amateur wrestling, football, professional wrestling, as well as MMA.
