During the first Sunday Night Football game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, tributes were made to 9/11, including one that was unintentional.
The Giants' offense was dominant throughout, and they went 9-11 on third downs. Granted, the Cowboys also went 8-11, but it was still notable that the New York offense hit that efficiency rate.
This was John Harbaugh's first game as the Giants' head coach. He had spent the previous 18 years with the Baltimore Ravens, winning one Super Bowl as their head coach.

The Giants made a statement in Harbaugh's first game, beating the Cowboys 28-20. The score doesn't do New York justice, as their offense was humming throughout.
Article Continues BelowJaxson Dart immediately led the Giants to a touchdown on their first drive. After their next two drives ended in a punt and a fumble, the offense scored a touchdown to go up 14-7 right before halftime off a Dak Prescott interception.
In the second half, the Giants scored on two drives that lasted over eight minutes. They chewed clock throughout the second half, making it hard for Dallas to come back.
The Cowboys still scored two touchdowns in the second half, but Dart led the Giants offense to a game-sealing drive to put it away. New York's last possession lasted 12 plays for 47 yards and over five minutes.
Now, the Giants head into a Monday Night Football matchup with the Los Angeles Rams with a lot of momentum after beating the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Dallas will play the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Sep. 20.
The Giants and the Cowboys will play again in Week 17 of the regular season. That game could have major implications for the NFC East with the playoffs starting a couple of weeks after their second matchup.
