Kirby Smart's Georgia football team made their top-10 clash against Ole Miss look like an absolute mismatch as the No. 2 Bulldogs put a 42-7 beatdown on the No. 10 Rebels. The Bulldogs defense was pitching a shutout against Ole Miss until the fourth quarter, when Shekai Mills-Knight scored a consolation touchdown.

However, Smart wasn't disappointed despite the defense losing the shutout. Instead, he gave them props for sticking to the gameplan.

“Great job by the defensive staff. Kids bought into the plan. We talked about sticking to the plan. They stuck to the plan. Did a great job,” Smart said in his post-game interview.

The Georgia defense completely shut down the explosive Ole Miss offense, limiting them to just 252 total yards. Trinidad Chambliss had arguably the toughest night of his career, completing just 18 of 34 attempts for only 170 yards with one interception and four sacks. He was also held without a touchdown pass for the first time as Ole Miss' starting quarterback.

On the other side, the Bulldogs offense also delivered a major beatdown. The Georgia ground game ran all over the Rebels, finishing with 295 yards and two touchdowns. And quarterback Gunner Stockton threw four touchdown passes, three of which going to wide receiver Talyn Taylor.

After Miami's loss to Notre Dame, Georgia looks poised to reclaim the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll. And with back-to-back dominant performances against Florida and Ole Miss (15 total points, 504 total yards allowed), the Bulldogs defense is rounding into shape at the right time. The Bulldogs will look to put on another impressive performance when they host Missouri in Athens next week.
