The New York Jets have been struggling in brutal fashion for years. After finishing the 2025 season with a 3-14 record and in last place in the AFC East, the Jets got to turn the page with the start of the new season. The Jets are banking on new quarterback Geno Smith and second-year head coach Aaron Glenn turning things around quickly.

It's too early to say whether that will happen, but the Jets have started the season on a successful note and have come away with a 23-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Jets scored an early touchdown in the first quarter to take the lead and they were never headed in the game.

Smith was successful in his leadership and with his accurate passing. He completed 19 of 24 passes for 215 yards. He did not throw a TD pass, but he also kept it clean on the interception side of the ledger. He completed 6 of 7 passes to wide receiver Garrett Wilson for 79 yards. The Jets got a big boost from the running game as speedy Breece Hall had 22 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Kenyon Sadiq also scored a rushing touchdown on 3-yard run.

Smith spoke about the game and the performance of his teammates after the game. “I'm really pleased with the way we played,” Smith said during his CBS postgame interview. “I really liked the way we played defense and the way we ran the ball.”

Smith also gave credit to Jets fans who traveled to Nashville and supported the team on the road. “Look at our fans. We travel well. Jets fans took over the building today.”
