The New York Jets are down 28-12 late in the fourth quarter to the Kansas City Chiefs, and it appears the club is heading toward a 2-7 record on the season. It's been a tough day for the team, especially in the second half, as the offense hasn't moved the ball down the field much at all. Things got so bad that quarterback Geno Smith seemingly reached his boiling point.

Smith was spotted on the sideline yelling and slamming his helmet onto the bench, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. It does not appear the 36-year-old signal-caller was yelling at any single individual, as he may have just been screaming in frustration.

“Geno is worked up,” Costello reported. “He just threw his helmet into the bench. Screaming at no one in particular, just screaming.”

The play that led to Smith's blow-up was one that ended with the Jets quarterback scrambling out of the pocket, only to stumble and fall, ending the drive, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. It's something that perhaps Smith has seen one too many times this season.

“That play typifies the day for the Jets (and the season): Geno Smith, on the run, stumbling, spinning, and going down. And then he fires his helmet on the bench,” Cimini posted on X.
