Jon Sumrall was honest about his lack of patience after leading the No. 21 Florida Gators to a stunning 52-28 win over the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday afternoon.
Sumrall is going through his first year as the Gators’ head coach. He looks to bring them back to serious postseason contention, aiming for the College Football Playoffs.
Sumrall impressed in his start with the program, going 3-0 ahead of this game against Ole Miss. The offense flourished to the fans' excitement throughout the game, giving them a win to be proud of. As for Sumrall, he made the primary objective very clear no matter how many games he wins with the Gators.
“We came here to win championships. But there's no reason in the world that shouldn't be the expectation at the University of Florida every year. So why wait? … I'm not real patient, you can ask my wife,” Sumrall said, per On3 insider Pete Nakos.

Jon Sumrall and the No. 21 Gators have emerged as a team to watch out for, getting a huge 52-28 win over a top-five team in the nation. Ole Miss had several players absent due to injury, including star rusher Kewan Lacy, but Florida took care of business at home.

Aaron Philo delivered a balanced performance for Florida. He completed 16 out of 23 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Jaden Baugh torched Ole Miss defenders as he ended the day with 29 rushes for 142 yards and a hat trick of three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Duke Clark joined him with an excellent display of 12 carries for 126 yards and a touchdown.
The No. 21 Gators will look forward to their next ranked matchup, being on the road. They take on the No. 19 Missouri Tigers in Week 5 as kickoff commences on Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
