The Florida Gators' receiving corps received a big blow, with Vernell Brown III, the team's third leading receiver, downgraded to doubtful for their massive game against Georgia. That's on top of Bailey Stockton, the team's second leading receiver, already being listed as doubtful on Thursday.

However, Stockton has suddenly made a strong push to play in the big game and could yet do so.

“Despite an injury that led to him being classified as doubtful as recently as Thursday, Florida starting wide receiver Bailey Stockton has been pushing hard to try and play today against No. 3 Georgia and there’s a real chance he ends up being available, sources tell CBSSports,” CBS reporter Matt Zenitz wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Stockton, a senior, is second on the team in receptions (27) and receiving yards (289), behind only Dallas Wilson. With Brown's status looking uncertain, Stockton's potential availability would be a boost for Florida against Georgia.

Aside from their receivers, the Gators also had to deal with injury concerns to their quarterbacks, Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr. But despite dealing with a shoulder injury, Philo looks set to start against Georgia.

Stockton had a career game earlier this month against South Carolina. He exploded for 127 yards on eight catches with one touchdown. It remains to be seen just how effective he can be amid an injury that had him listed as doubtful earlier this week. But at least his availability against Georgia will give Philo another much-needed option against the rugged Bulldogs defense.
