Florida football will start sophomore quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. against No. 7 Texas on Saturday, giving the former four-star recruit his first career start as Aaron Philo continues working through a shoulder injury.

Jones took most of the first-team reps during the week and enters the matchup having completed 23 of 29 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in five appearances. Florida still has not ruled out Philo, whose availability will depend on how he responds during pregame warm-ups in Austin.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the decision Saturday on X, formerly Twitter, adding that Philo could still be available in an emergency role despite Jones getting the start.

The following story is in development and will be updated shortly.
