Petar Musa supplied a brace in the final seven minutes, and FC Dallas improved their playoff positioning in the Western Conference standings Saturday night by blanking the San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 in Frisco, Texas.

Dallas (15-7-9, 54 points) moved into second place in the West, one point behind Vancouver, which lost 1-0 at Colorado Saturday night. Dallas also moved three points ahead of St. Louis City SC for second place.

San Jose (13-9-9, 48 points) fell into a tie for fourth with Houston, which played to a scoreless tie with Minnesota United. The loss snapped a nine-match unbeaten streak for the Earthquakes.

Dallas controlled most of the match but couldn't convert any of its chances until Musa, who broke the franchise record for most single-season goals this year, added to that record in dramatic fashion late in the fixture.

Bernard Kamungo outraced defender Daniel Munie to a long pass by Santiago Moreno on the left side. Kamungo found an open Musa, who dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box and curled a shot into the right corner in the 83rd minute.

Musa struck again five minutes later when referee Rubiel Vazquez pointed to the spot after Kaick was fouled in the box by Paul Marie. Musa finished clinically into the middle right portion of the net for his 22nd goal of the year.

Moreno iced the victory in the fourth minute of stoppage time when he dribbled to his left and slotted a shot into the bottom left corner.

Dallas had the run of play most of the night, logging a 16-4 advantage in total shots and a 7-1 margin in shots on goal. San Jose managed just two shots in each half.

Goalie Angus Gunn kept the match scoreless for the Earthquakes with four first-half saves. His best was on a Daniel Job shot in the 19th minute from the center of the box.
