Kyle Whittingham was brutally honest about the team's issues following the Michigan Wolverines' 20-14 loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday afternoon.
Whittingham is going through his first year as the Wolverines' head coach, attempting to lead them back into national championship contention. However, they are off to a turbulent start to the 2026 campaign.
Michigan survived with a controversial win over Western Michigan, then squeezed past Oklahoma before torching UTEP. They eventually suffered an upset loss to Iowa and have now fallen to Minnesota. Whittingham reflected on the loss after the game, being honest about his situation on sorting out the issues.
“I'm still trying to figure it out. I've been in this profession for 40 plus years and this is maybe the biggest challenge I've had. And we will get it figured out. I promise you that. I'm not sure what the timeline is but I promise you, we're going to figure it out at some juncture. But right now, we have a lot of answers that we got to come up with because we got so many deficiencies,” Whittingham said.
