Rumors continue to swirl that the Pittsburgh Steelers may opt to trade Joey Porter Jr. While nothing has come to fruition just yet, one ESPN insider revealed which organization he feels would be a perfect fit for the fourth-year veteran: the San Francisco 49ers.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested the idea, claiming that 49ers general manager John Lynch would be smart to acquire Porter from the Steelers. Fowler loves the idea of the 26-year-old playing as one of San Francisco's outside corners, with Deommodore Lenoir playing the opposite side of the field.

“The 49ers cornerback rotation looked stout Thursday against the Rams, but seasons are long, and Porter would help the defense immensely,” Fowler said. “San Francisco has eight draft picks in 2027 and around $45 million in cap space. Porter opposite Deommodore Lenoir would form a stout 1-2 cornerback combo.”

Interestingly enough, the 49ers have the draft capital and the cap space to pull off a trade for Joey Porter Jr. While that may be the case, nothing is set in stone, and the organization could opt not to make a move at all before the November 10 deadline. But the idea of Porter in San Francisco is tantalizing nonetheless.

Joey Porter Jr. missed the Steelers' 20-13 Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons due to a back injury. But the failure to reach an agreement on a contract extension is speculated to be another potential reason why the former second-round pick didn't dress down on Sunday.

This season is the final year of Porter's rookie contract. His first three campaigns were highly successful, as he has accumulated 165 combined tackles (120 solo), one sack, three interceptions, and 31 pass deflections through 46 career games.
