England will take on Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series on Tuesday, September 15, at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.ÃÂ
The Three Lions' last T20I assignment saw them seal a 4-0 hammering of India at home, which also saw them dethrone the men in blue from the top of the ICC rankings, who had held the spot since February 2022. Harry Brook's side completed a 3-0 whitewash over the Lankan side in Sri Lanka at the start of the year, and will be looking to continue the same form.
Sri Lanka come into this series with form not being on their side, having been beaten 2-1 in their last T20I assignment in the West Indies. They were also beaten in the two tour matches prior to the start of the series. They are without captain Kusal Mendis, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.

Rose Bowl, Southampton: Pitch Report
The Rose Bowl in Southampton is a balanced track which aids batters with consistent bounce at the start of the innings. But as the pitch played out in the Hundred, it slows down towards the end, bringing spinners into play. Batters can however play their shots on the up due to the true bounce off the surface, and seamers can get lateral movement from the surface.

ENG vs SL: Probable Best Performers of the Match
Probable Best Batter: Harry Brook
England captain Harry Brook comes into this series in fine form, having finished as the top run-getter against India. He scored 229 runs at a strike rate of 214.01, and was able to take on the India bowlers for runs aplenty. He will be looking to continue that form and lead his side from the front.
Probable Best Bowler: Jofra Archer
England's Jofra Archer has been the side's strike bowler in the T20I format, taking wickets with the new ball and setting the tone for the innings. He is the de facto attack leader and will be looking to trouble the Sri Lankan batters.
