Eddie Hearn appears to have buried the hatchet with Chris Eubank Jr and could even end up representing him for a trilogy with Conor Benn.
The remarkable turn of events would see Hearn switch sides after previously backing Benn for both of their bitter grudge matches last year.
Hearn and Eubank Jr butted heads on multiple occasions throughout the respective build-ups, with the British promoter threatening to sue his adversary for claiming Matchroom had attempted to 'sabotage' the inaugural encounter.
The tension in the room has, however, subsided since Benn ditched Hearn to sign with arch-nemesis Dana White and Zuffa Boxing.
Hearn was informed of Benn's decision via an email from the 29-year-old's lawyer after he exacted his revenge over Eubank Jr in the rematch.
The 'betrayal' stung Hearn, who admitted he had 'misjudged Benn's character' by assuming he would 'repay his loyalty' for standing by him during his doping legal battle in 2022.
Seemingly united by their shared disdain for Benn, Hearn and Eubank Jr recently sat down for a business meeting over lunch.
Hearn lifts lid on 'pleasant' meeting with Eubank Jr
Quizzed on whether he could end up joining forces with Eubank Jr after settling their differences, Hearn told DAZN: "Stranger things have happened.
"I will confirm that I had a very pleasant lunch meeting with Mr Eubank.
"It was nice to clear the air. Certainly, me on Team Eubank against Dana White and Conor Benn makes the fight twice as big, and the trilogy will be interesting.
"But if I'm on Team Eubank, I'll make sure everything's fair this time.
"I think Chris understands and appreciates that my job last time was to get the edge.
"And I did that beautifully, because I spun the other team around my finger, and I enabled Conor Benn to get the advantage going into the fight. That's the game."
Eubank Jr recently revealed he had entered free agency following the expiration of his 'partnership deal' with Ben Shalom's BOXXER.
Shalom has since come out and declared Eubank Jr is still under contract, but that hasn't deterred Hearn from pitching himself to Eubank Jr.
One of the key sticking points in discussions for Benn and Eubank Jr's first two bouts was the weight.
With Benn being the smaller man, Hearn managed to negotiate favourable terms that saw Eubank Jr boil himself down to 160lbs, a weight he was already very tight at.
A 10lbs rehydration clause was then slapped on top, leaving Eubank Jr in a depleted state.
Benn has already suggested he would happily meet Eubank Jr in a rubber match at super middleweight, with no rehydration clause to prove his dominance.
And Hearn insists that if he is appointed by Eubank Jr, he will make sure a 168lbs limit is agreed upon.
"I made sure that Conor Benn had a huge edge in that fight," Hearn added at a press conference on Saturday.
"If I'm on Team Eubank, that isn't happening on my watch.
"So, the fight happens at 168lbs with no rehydration clause, and a fair playing field because it probably wasn't a fair playing field."
