After struggling to keep Jalen Hurts clean in the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 1 debut against the Washington Commanders, Landon Dickerson has been placed on injured reserve to hopefully return later this season at full strength.

Interestingly enough, this news broke when Dickerson was a guest on 94 WIP, with Elliot Shorr-Park and Jason Avant having a chance to ask the veteran guard straight up if the reporting from Jeff McLane was true, to which they received a very interesting answer.

“So these sources, I would assume, are correct. I haven't been informed yet. I've been told that was kind of the plan,” Dickerson noted. “So, I'm gonna assume that's correct. Again, you guys usually find out information before we do as players. That's normally how it goes.”

“I played like 💩 yesterday. I was a complete liability.”

While Dickerson didn't officially know if he was placed on IR, he wasn't surprised by the direction Howie Roseman chose to take things, as after suffering an injury during the summer, he simply wasn't able to play up to his typical standard against the Commanders.

“Yeah, so honestly, and you know, address the elephant in the room. I played s*** yesterday,” Dickerson said. “Yeah, I was a complete liability yesterday. And again, that was my fault. I know I said earlier in camp, I shouldn't be out there till I feel healthy.

“A few weeks ago, got rolled up on in practice. You know, I thought, you know, as weeks went by, it would get better. And it didn't. And we kind of went out there and finally got some imaging on it today, figured out what was wrong with it. And really, the best plan moving forward is to put me on IR  So I can get this thing better to have a good stretch of the back end of the season versus kind of what happened last year was, you know, go out there and limp it through for 18 weeks. And I don't think anybody wants to see that again, because that was just ugly. I don't want to do that again, because that was just some BS.”

With Dickerson now required to be out for at least the next four weeks, the Eagles will have to turn to Drew Kendall and/or Willie Lampkin to fill in for the former second-round pick out of Alabama. Given how the duo played over the summer, that should allow Philadelphia to remain effective in the trenches while Dickerson works back to full strength.
