Dwayne Johnson is now arguably at one of his lightest weights ever. Known for his intimidating physical structure and physique, Johnson has now undergone a remarkable transformation for one of his upcoming films.

Johnson took to Instagram on Sept. 13, 2026, and gave fans the full story behind his recent transformation and noticeably slimmer look. Johnson opened up about the journey after getting repeatedly asked questions about his diet, conditioning, and more. “The Rock” claimed that the journey began with his Smashing Machine film.

“Thanks for all the cool questions lately about my training/diet/conditioning and why I slimmed down for my current role I’m filming now (Benny Safdie’s Lizard Music). I took almost a year to lose approximately 50lbs – from stepping on set to film, “The Smashing Machine” weighing 282lbs, to my current weight today – 235lbs. Last time I was this weight, was my freshman football season at University of Miami. I was a little ‘light in the a**', for a defensively tackle, but still a monster,” Johnson wrote.

He also added, “at this current weight and body composition, I’ve never felt better – strength, endurance, cardiovascular, metabolic health, inflammation, joints, insulin sensitivity, stress hormones, immune function, incredible pumps etc.” “The Rock' also mentioned that he wanted to lose the extra 30lbs he put on for Smashing Machine without taking any extreme measures. The former WWE star also shared that his diet had a lot to do with his transformation, since he has now been focusing on the intake of his carbs, refined sugar, as well as fats.

Johnson added that he lost the weight for the well-being of his cardiovascular health, metabolic health, and brain health. He noted that he gained the weight for Smashing Machine and maintained it for almost three weeks, during which he had to shoot Moana live-action. Despite being injured during that time, Johnson continued and completed shooting the film.

After carrying that weight for months, he finally decided to change and drop it. He is now set to star in Benny Safdie's Lizard Man, where a completely different version of Johnson is required due to his role as Chicken Man.
