The Los Angeles Dodgers are postseason-bound once again, securing their spot Monday night with a 4-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. The victory gave Los Angeles its 14th consecutive playoff berth, tying the all-time record set by the Atlanta Braves from 1991 through 2005.
Los Angeles improved to 91-59 while becoming the third team to guarantee a postseason spot, following the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays. The Dodgers also reduced their magic number to three for the NL West title. Los Angeles is chasing its 13th division title in 14 seasons and could clinch as early as Tuesday with another win in Cincinnati, provided the San Diego Padres lose twice. The Padres entered Monday on a seven-game winning streak.
Dodgers starter Tarik Skubal played a central role in the clinching win. The left-hander pitched seven scoreless innings, permitting only three hits and one walk while striking out nine. Skubal improved to 10-7 and has now gone 3-2 with a 2.52 ERA across eight starts since joining Los Angeles from the Detroit Tigers on Aug. 2. Monday marked his second victory against the Reds in seven days.
The Dodgers received all of their offensive production from just three hits. Kyle Tucker opened the scoring with a solo homer against Cincinnati starter Nick Lodolo in the second inning, giving him three home runs over his last five games. Tucker later drew a two-out walk in the fourth before Teoscar Hernondez followed with a two-run homer to right-center.
Article Continues BelowKike Hernandez supplied another run with an RBI single in the seventh. Lodolo finished with four runs allowed on three hits over seven innings.
Reds' Elly De La Cruz provided the final scoring in the ninth, launching a 457-foot home run against Evan Phillips. It was the longest homer by a Cincinnati player this season and the longest hit at Great American Ball Park in 2026.
Los Angeles will send Yoshinobu Yamamoto (13-8, 2.62 ERA) to the mound Tuesday against Reds' Rhett Lowder (6-10, 5.81 ERA).
