The Colorado Buffaloes had a tough task on their hands in Week 7 as No. 11 Utah headed to Boulder amid a Deion Sanders-leaked playbook controversy. Sanders lit into his QB room recently with comments that few expected ahead of his team's showdown against the Utes, which included a special visitor.
Former Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Diego Pavia made an appearance, sharing a surprising wish about Sanders' team.
“I do wish I could, you know, play for Coach Prime,” Pavia said recently, noting that Sanders offered him a scholarship when he coached at Jackson State.
Pavia is now a digital content creator and streamer after he was let go by the Baltimore Ravens. He became Vanderbilt's first-ever Heisman Trophy finalist last year and missed out on winning the award, which was taken home by Fernando Mendoza, formerly of Indiana.
The Buffaloes entered the Utah game 2-3 on the season, 14th in the Big 12, and were led by a two-headed QB monster of Julian Lewis and Isaac Wilson, both of whom have been productive but mistake-prone so far this season.
Article Continues BelowSanders recently made headlines when he decided to kick three players off of the Buffaloes, before moving forward with a team that has shown plenty of fight this season but has often appeared overmatched. Sanders entered the game with a 2-8 record against ranked teams as head coach, his last win dating back to October 11, 2025 against the then-No.22 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. Week 7 against the Utes offered a chance for Sanders to make a big splash with Pavia and other college football luminaries watching.
A Devon Dampier passing touchdown gave Utah a leg up as the Buffaloes' woes continued.
