The No. 7 LSU Tigers are taking on Lane Kiffin's former team, the No. 8 Ole Miss Rebels, in Week 3. It's a revenge game, probably more so for the Rebels than for Kiffin, but it's a revenge game nonetheless. On Monday, the 51-year-old head coach shared a take about his former program that seemingly feels like gaslighting.

While talking with media members, Kiffin claimed that his departure from Ole Miss can be viewed as a win-win for the Rebels and Tigers football programs, according to Dan Wolken of Yahoo! Sports. How that is the case was not provided.

“Lane Kiffin says he thinks it's neat that people can look at the Ole Miss-LSU game and see that ‘both sides won' in the aftermath of him changing jobs,” Wolken reported.

The veteran head coach notoriously left Ole Miss right as the 2025-26 College Football Playoff began, leaving the program high and dry after accepting the LSU job. The Rebels were forced to pivot and name Pete Golding the new head coach, who retains that role today. Kiffin took several members of the coaching staff with him to Baton Rouge, along with players through the transfer portal.

Kiffin's departure was met with plenty of criticism, as he's become the villain of college football since that decision. He now has a chance to fully capitalize on that image if LSU pulls out of Week 3 with a win over Ole Miss.

So far, the Lane Kiffin era at LSU has been highly successful. The Tigers obliterated Dabo Swinney and Clemson 51-10 in Week 1, then turned around and blew LA Tech out of the water with a 45-14 Week 2 victory. He will be deep in enemy territory on Saturday, as his Tigers take on the Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi.
