The New York Giants are searching for an answer at quarterback after Jaxson Dart's injury, but one retired signal caller has already ruled himself out. Former Raiders and Saints quarterback Derek Carr responded to an ML Football post asking whether the Giants should try to convince him to come out of retirement and play for the team. The post featured a picture of Carr in New York Giants attire. Carr immediately turned down the hypothetical.
“Beautiful picture but I'm too busy trying to find a level 40 crew to join,” he quipped on his X account, referencing NBA 2K.
Fans were astonished that Carr plays the popular NBA 2K franchise, and the Giants now look to other options to fill their need at quarterback. Under new head coach John Harbaugh, Dart was expected to have a breakout season, and by all accounts, Dart was preparing to put together an interesting run.
In the team's Week 1 primetime battle against the rival New York Giants, Dart finished the game with 230 yards and three touchdowns on 23 of 29 attempts and added 11 carries for 54 yards. The numbers led many to believe the young quarterback was ready to turn the Giants into an NFC contender.
But the former Ole Miss standout suffered an injury in the Giants' Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, as he suffered a knee injury, suffering damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus. The injury will ultimately require surgery, and he'll miss the rest of the regular season.
Now, Jameis Winston is back in the spotlight as he steps in as the Giants' starter heading into Week 3.
