Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward expanded his involvement in his community by joining an investment group that purchased a minority stake in the Cleveland Guardians franchise. Ward expressed in an interview posted on the Browns website just how big of a fan he is of the MLB team, with Ward wanting to establish himself as a greater part of the city of Cleveland as a local kid born in the suburb of Macedonia in the greater Cleveland area.

“Cleveland is my hometown. I'm so blessed to be able to show up for this city on the field and now as a part of the Guardians organization. I couldn't be more grateful to the Dolan family and David Blitzer for the opportunity to continue to pour into this community and give back to the best fans in the world,” Ward said in an interview.

With the Guardians locked in a tight race for a playoff spot, Ward was in attendance for their Tuesday night contest against the Chicago White Sox. The Browns cornerback joined the booth at GuardsTV and expressed even more joy regarding his move to become a minority owner in the franchise.

“It is crazy. I didn't really imagine it until it got closer and we got a deal done. Growing up as a kid, coming in to the games, I didn't picture it being like this. I thought I'd be in the stands just watching. But man, I'm grateful to be an owner and be a part of this organization,” Ward said.

The Guardians must have fed off of Ward's joy, as they earned a big 6-3 win over the White Sox to win the three-game series against their division rival.

This was a huge win for Cleveland, as this win improved them to 78-75 on the season, which is good enough to put them in the AL Central lead over the White Sox for the time being.
