On Saturday, the Clemson football program improved to 2-1 on the 2026 season with a thrilling home win over the North Carolina Tar Heels. Clemson was trailing this game heading into the fourth quarter but ended up outscoring North Carolina 13-3 in the final frame in order to secure the win.

After the game, head coach Dabo Swinney spoke on the vibes in his team's locker room as a result of the win.

“I was saying on the TV show, like, you could cure cancer with what was in that locker room,” he said, per Ralph D. Russo of The Athletic. “That type of strength and joy and togetherness and synergy and just man, I wish I wish the world could experience that. It’s just it’s indescribable to experience a locker room after a moment like that.”

Clemson has already been through quite a bit of adversity this season, losing their first game of the year on the road against the LSU Tigers in a blowout fashion, after which Swinney traded jabs with local reporters as his insecurities continue to mount.

However, none of those issues were present in his postgame press conference on Saturday.

“When you win a game like that, it just puts wind in your sails. It just creates that confidence,” Swinney said. “Because these kids get so much negativity. Oh my God! It’s like unbelievable the amount of stuff that they probably have to consume.”

Clemson now sits at 2-1 on the season, with all of their goals still theoretically ahead of them despite the blowout LSU loss.

The Tigers will next hit the field on Friday evening for a road game against Cal.
