The Dallas Cowboys opened their Week 3 preparations with four defensive contributors absent from Wednesday's practice as injuries continue to affect the unit ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil.
Cornerback Cobie Durant, safeties Malik Hooker and PJ Locke, and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown all missed the session. Durant is dealing with a hamstring injury, while Hooker has a forearm issue. Locke is nursing a foot injury, and Overshown is also battling a hamstring problem.
Durant has started each of Dallas' first two games and has logged 87 defensive snaps. Hooker started the season opener but played just 12 snaps before his injury. Locke stepped into the starting lineup in Week 2 and has recorded 31 defensive snaps along with 11 on special teams.
Overshown started the Cowboys' opener and accumulated 51 defensive snaps and three special-teams snaps before his injury. His absence, along with those of Durant, Hooker and Locke, leaves three starters and a valuable reserve out of practice.
There was at least one positive development on the injury front. Outside linebacker James Houston, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Baltimore also had four players miss Wednesday’s practice. Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley sat out while managing a toe injury that he aggravated during the Ravens' Week 2 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Wide receiver Zay Flowers remains day-to-day with a hamstring injury after missing Week 2 following an injury in the season opener.
Defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson, who is dealing with a severely broken finger, also missed practice after playing through the injury in Week 2. Calais Campbell was absent for a veteran rest day.
