Sauce Gardner is not a losing player. The Indianapolis Colts cornerback barely ever lost in college at Cincinnati, and he got his NFL career off to an incredibly hot start in which he proved himself as one of the best ball hawks in the game. Despite that, Gardner has not won a football game in the United States in 647 days.
He played for a really bad New York Jets team before being traded to the Colts last season. At the time, the team that gave up two first-round picks for Gardner was 7-2, but a run of injuries, including to Gardner himself, resulted in a lot of losing to close out the year. The Colts are now 0-2 in 2026, and Gardner is well aware of his losing streak.
“Obviously, [the losing streak] is true,” Gardner said. “Who wants to hear it? Do I want to hear it? No. But the reality is that I'm going to hear it. I'm going to hear the bad stuff way more than the good stuff.”

Gardner's last win came in Week 10, his first with the Colts, although the game took place in Germany. Indianapolis hasn't won since then. Furthermore, the Jets' only 2025 win before Gardner was traded came in a game he was inactive for, meaning he hasn't won on U.S. soil since Week 15 of the 2024 season. The losing streak isn't an indictment of Gardner's abilities, though. The cornerback is a great player, and his misfortune will surely turn around soon.
