Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is excited to reunite with wide receiver Darius Slayton after the team added his former New York Giants teammate amid Alec Pierce's move to injured reserve.
Jones spent several seasons throwing to Slayton in New York and believes the veteran receiver can immediately help an Indianapolis offense dealing with the loss of one of its top playmakers.
James Boyd of The Athletic shared Jones' reaction Wednesday via X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I obviously played a lot of football with Darius. He’s a great player. I think he’ll be great with the guys we got. We got a lot of really good players in that room. Guys who make a lot of plays so I think he’ll be able to step in and help us out.”

Slayton's arrival comes at an important time for the Colts after Pierce aggravated his surgically repaired left heel during Indianapolis' 33-30 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2. The setback resulted in Pierce landing on injured reserve.
The Colts will now turn to Slayton as another option for Jones in the passing game. The familiarity between the two could help ease Slayton's transition into Indianapolis' offense as the team prepares for Week 3.
Slayton spent the first several seasons of his NFL career with the Giants, where he developed chemistry with Jones as one of the quarterback's primary downfield targets.
Indianapolis will look for the reunion to provide an immediate boost as the Colts (0-2) host the Houston Texans (0-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
