With Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs requesting a trade from the team, there has been a myriad of speculation on which teams could go after the 25-year-old. As rumors around the Colts will continue ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, this NFL insider goes into the two teams that have been checking in on Downs.
According to ESPN league insider Jeremy Fowler, the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers have “checked in” on Indianapolis regarding Downs. So far this season, Downs has caught 30 passes for 330 yards and one touchdown.
“There probably will be some wink-wink deals that ‘Hey, let's get through the week and see if what we need still stands.' Or ‘Here's the pick I'm willing to give up. Will you take it?' I think at wide receiver some of that will shake out a little bit,” Fowler said on “The Rich Eisen Show.”
“Josh Downs in Indianapolis has made clear he wants out; there are teams involved there,” Fowler continued. “Teams like Kansas City, Pittsburgh that have checked in on it, do they put that over the top after the game is something that's on my radar.”

The Colts have been active regarding trading away key players, as they have done so with star offensive lineman Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers. With Downs and star running back Jonathan Taylor being rumored to be next on the trade block for Indianapolis, it remains to be seen if that will be the case.
When it comes to Downs, he could be finding himself a new home by the trade deadline, as Kansas City and Pittsburgh seem to be likely options.
