Wide receiver Alec Pierce managed to start in Week 1 in the Indianapolis Colts' 41-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, after bouncing back from a serious ankle and heel issue. Upon his return, the 26-year-old sustained a wrist injury in the first game of the season. On Monday, head coach Shane Steichen opened up about the injury.
The fourth-year coach appeared unconcerned about Pierce's new injury, according to James Boyd of The Athletic. Steichen appeared confident that the 6-foot-3 wideout is in a good place with his wrist.

The offense couldn't get the passing game going against the Ravens, but they'll have plenty of opportunities to get Pierce rolling as the season progresses.
The former second-round pick is deemed one of the best deep ball targets in the NFL. While he didn't have many chances in Week 1 to showcase that talent, the Colts will aim to get him more involved in the game plan moving forward, starting with a Week 2 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Alec Pierce is coming off a career year that was cut short due to the major ankle and heel injuries he sustained in the final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time, ending the year with 47 receptions, 1,003 yards, and six touchdowns.
