College Football Week 4 Picks: 3 Best Bets for Saturday

College football officially kicked off on August 22nd, but week four is where the fun officially starts. This week’s slate is loaded with great conference showdowns, featuring six ranked games and several more tightly contested matchups.

Here are my best bets for my three favorite games of the week.

#4 Ole Miss vs #21 Florida (-3) Total: 58.5

This game feels pretty simple to me. Trinidad Chambliss has been playing out of his mind, and I don’t see this as a letdown spot for Ole Miss. This entire season has been about proving Lane Kiffin wrong, and that you can win in Oxford. I love Ole Miss in this game. I also think the over is a little too inflated from Florida’s performance, so I don’t mind the under in this one either.

Pick: Ole Miss +3 and u58.5

#17 Iowa vs #18 Michigan (-5.5) Total: 38.5

Michigan has been a lightning rod for reactions in college football over the past three weeks. They had their controversial win over Western Michigan, beat an Oklahoma team that might be pretty bad, and looked sluggish against a pretty bad UTEP team.

On the other hand, Iowa has looked like Iowa. The defense is great again as usual, but the offense seems wildly inconsistent. If Iowa’s running back, Kamari Moulton, isn’t good to go in week three, I think Michigan can cover, but for now, I’m just going with the under. Neither Bryce Underwood for Michigan nor Hank Brown for Iowa pose much of a threat in the passing game, so I expect this to be a low-scoring, AFC North-style clash in the Big 10.

#20 Oregon (-3) vs #12 USC Total: 62.5

Portland State was the unfortunate team in Oregon’s way after their embarrassing upset loss to Oklahoma State. It’s been an ugly start for the Ducks. They’ve been sloppy, disinterested, and poorly coached… that being said, I think they go on the road and get their season back on track.

It’s ugly for Oregon, but USC has been just as bad, if not worse, with their 4-0 start. USC is 60th in total yards allowed per game while facing San Jose State, Fresno State, Louisiana, and Rutgers to start the year. This game will be pretty close and will come down to whether Dante Moore or Jayden Maiava can make more plays for their team. Frankly, I think Moore will be able to do that against a much weaker Trojan defense.
