Tyquan Thornton enjoyed a career-best performance in Sunday's 30-27 road win versus the Las Vegas Raiders, and in doing so he helped the Kansas City Chiefs solidify control of the AFC West. The 26-year-old wide receiver could not properly relish the moment, however. He dislocated his ankle in the fourth quarter and will require surgery. But there is a small chance that his season is not done yet.

The recovery timetable is expected to be three to four months, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. So if everything goes well, perhaps Thornton can rejoin the Chiefs in January. Considering the initial devastation he probably experienced, this is good news. KC may still need some reinforcements in the meantime, though.

Speculation continues to center around a potential Tyreek Hill reunion. The franchise great and Super Bowl 54 champion suffered a season-ending knee injury on September 29, 2025 and has not played since. He is 32 years old. Despite the questions surroundings his current capabilities, Hill enjoyed great success with Patrick Mahomes and is therefore a logical candidate.

Regardless of who general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid pursue, Kansas City could likely use another deep threat after losing Thornton. The 2022 second-round draft pick has not lived up to his potential, but he has made an impact at various points during his Chiefs tenure. None bigger than what he achieved in Las Vegas.

Tyquan Thornton recorded five receptions on eight targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Immediately before exiting the field, he positioned KC for the go-ahead score by securing a 55-yard gain with 3:35 left in the game. He cruelly suffers a devastating injury in the midst of his NFL peak.

Hopefully, the explosive playmaker will get an opportunity to finish what he started.
