The Kansas City Chiefs outplayed the Denver Broncos in Week 1, earning a big 31-10 win on Monday night. It was Patrick Mahomes' official return from the ACL injury that cut his 2025-26 season short. After his first game back in action, it appears he is the heavy favorite to win this year's Comeback Player of the Year Award.

In the latest odds for the CPOY, Bet Online gives the 30-year-old quarterback a huge lead, making him a -110 favorite. Nobody else is even remotely close to him in the odds, as it appears the rest of the pack are heavy under dogs in comparison to Mahomes.

While the 10-year veteran is well ahead of everybody else in the odds for the CPOY, his performance against the Broncos wasn't necessarily the best in his career. In fact, it was far from it. Mahomes ended the night with just 184 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown while completing 55.5% of his pass attempts.

Even so, the Chiefs in general looked great. Patrick Mahomes' teammates made big plays throughout the home opener. Especially Kenneth Walker III who finished the evening with 173 rushing yards and a touchdown. He hit those numbers while averaging 7.5 yards per attempt, as he gashed the Broncos' defense in his debut with Kansas City.

Mahomes will have a chance to maintain his odds for the CPOY in Week 2. The three-time Super Bowl winner and the Chiefs are scheduled to take on the Indianapolis Colts. It will be another prime time matchup for Kansas City, as the two clubs face off on “Sunday Night Football.”
