Patrick Mahomes keeps finding new ways to make NFL history. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback added another remarkable achievement Sunday night. That came as he led his team to a thrilling 33-30 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Mahomes orchestrated the decisive overtime possession. That set up Harrison Butker for the 40-yard game-winning field goal and pushed Kansas City to 2–0. According to ESPN Insights and the Elias Sports Bureau, Mahomes has now produced 31 fourth-quarter or overtime game-winning drives since 2018, which includes playoffs. That is now the most by any quarterback during that span.

Even more remarkable, Sunday’s victory improved Mahomes to 8–0 in regular-season overtime games. That also gives him the best undefeated overtime record by a starting quarterback in NFL history. After Kansas City leaned heavily on its running game in Week 1, Mahomes delivered three touchdown passes against Indianapolis. He connected with Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy, and Jalen Royals before once again taking over when the game mattered most.

Mahomes has built one of the most decorated careers of the modern NFL era. The three-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Super Bowl MVP has also captured two regular-season MVP awards and an Offensive Player of the Year honor.
