Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers are on high alert after starting 0-2 in the 2026 NFL season. A former quarterback went over what they must do to get back on track.

Los Angeles is often in the picture for playoff contention, having garnered big regular-season victories over the years. However, they have taken steps back to start 2026 after losing to the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders. Former quarterback Chase Daniel provided his thoughts on the team's struggles, hoping to see them bounce back amid a tough seven-game stretch on the way.

“I know the Raiders are better than people think, but those are two losses. And then you look at the gauntlet of the next seven games. There's a real possibility, and I'm not just being hyperbolic, that they could be 3-6 or 2-7 through the next seven. I mean, look at the next games at Buffalo, at Seattle, Denver, KC. You got a bye [week] to sort of get healthy, [then] Rams and Houston, and then Baltimore. It does not get any easier,” Daniel said on the Rich Eisen Show.

“When you look at the film offensively, it just looks disjointed. And I know a lot of discourse over here on social media and everyone about Justin Herbert, and he has not played well whatsoever. Like he could play better. There's been a ton of drops. Like other than if you look at that roster, really on offense and defense. Other than Ladd McConkey and probably the two tackles, Rashawn Slater, Joe Alt, who has played well. There just hasn't been a lot of guys around him to play well.”

What lies ahead for Chargers this season

Justin Herbert and the Chargers have time to regain themselves with the season still early. However, it will have to be quick as the games won't get easier.

Los Angeles' next five games feature opponents that have strong cases as serious contenders. Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, and the Rams stand out among the bunch, presenting concern for the Chargers if they don't get it together soon.

The Chargers seek their first win of the season when they gear up for their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. ET.
