The Arizona Cardinals took on the Los Angeles Chargers to kick off their 2026 campaign. And they came away with a very impressive victory on Sunday. The star of the show was tight end Trey McBride, who did a lot of work to help Arizona's offense.

McBride caught nine passes in the win over the Chargers. He racked up 95 passing yards and caught the only passing touchdown thrown by Jacoby Brissett. Arizona took home a 26-14 win thanks to McBride's efforts. With this performance, the Arizona star is getting close to claiming a piece of NFL history.

“Cardinals TE Trey McBride, who had nine receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown in today’s 26-14 win at the Chargers, now has 38 career NFL games with at least five catches, tied with Pro Football Hall of Famers Antonio Gates (38 games) and Kellen Winslow Sr. (38) for the second-most such games by a tight end in his first five seasons in NFL history. They trail only Jimmy Graham (46),” ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.

The Cardinals defense also stepped up big. They picked off Justin Herbert in this game. They were also in his face for much of the contest. Arizona recorded three sacks and five QB hits in the win on Sunday.

This is a fantastic way for the Cardinals to begin the season. It's a long trek for this squad, but a win like this is certainly something to feel good about. Arizona will look for a second straight win on September 20 when they take on the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
