Last month, the Arizona Cardinals rewarded Michael Wilson with a lucrative contract, signing him to a three-year, $75 million contract extension. It was a much-deserved payday, as Wilson was coming off a breakout campaign.
Ironically enough, his ascent made Marvin Harrison Jr., his close friend, expendable. With Wilson establishing himself as a primary target and Harrison's production drop-off, the Cardinals sent the latter to the Houston Texans in exchange for draft capital. It signaled a structural shift in Arizona's offense, although the team is still struggling with a 1-4 record.
In a video posted by Sports Illustrated's Alex D'Agostino, the 26-year-old Wilson described Harrison's departure as “crushing.”
“I have a good relationship with Marv. You guys, the media, don't know him like I know him. For a guy like that, you just really hope for the person and root for the person. The type of character he is, the things he's been through the last 18 months, there's so much negativity about his name, which is weird since he's such an amazing guy, truly works extremely, extremely hard,” said Wilson.
“There's no one in this building who would ever question his work ethic, his preparation, and how much he loves and cares about the game of football and this locker room.”

The 24-year-old Harrison has been labeled as lazy and indifferent. In four games this season, Harrison has tallied five receptions on 13 targets for 85 yards and one touchdown.
His fresh slate in Houston could help unlock his full potential, which made him the No. 4 pick in 2024, and if there is anyone who is betting on it, it is Wilson.
“I'm hoping that he goes to Houston and finds success because he really deserves it,” added Wilson.
