The Vancouver Canucks are taking on Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. This is the first time Hughes has skated in Vancouver as a member of the visiting team. With situations like Ottawa Senators fans trolling Brady Tkachuk recently, fans across the hockey world wondered how the fans would react to Hughes.
Canucks fans certainly did not disappoint. Vancouver fans loudly booed Hughes in his return to the city. They also took aim at Wild fans, as well. They trolled Minnesota and its fans with a simple three-word chant aimed at the superstar defenseman.
This chant evokes the ongoing contract situation Hughes and the Wild are embroiled in. The star defenseman is a free agent in July of 2027. He has not signed a new contract with Minnesota, either. Minnesota was comfortable with his contract status at the time of their trade with the Canucks to land Hughes last December.
This is a developing story. More information to come.
