The Chicago Bears are hoping to rebound from a brutal performance in Week 5 when they suffered a 31-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers. While there were clearly a slew of defensive issues that helped Packers QB Jordan Love torch the Bears secondary, the Chicago offense did not play efficiently or effectively.
QB Caleb Williams was a full participant in practice this week and is likely to get the start for the Bears. Williams suffered a hamstring injury in the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and he has not played since the fourth quarter of that 9-3 loss.
If Williams is able to return and play in this game, it should give the Bears an emotional lift as well asallow them to perform better from an offensive perspective. Williams put out his own hype video that includes a scene from “The Bear” TV series to quiet his critics and pump up his supporters.
The Bears have already lost two games this season and have fallen 2 games behind the first place and undefeated Minnesota Vikings. If they lose this week to the Atlanta Falcons on the road, it will make it that much harder to climb in the standings and regain first place after winning the NFC North title a year ago.
Williams completed 36 of 55 passes for 407 yards with 2 TDs and 1 interception in the first two weeks of the season before suffering his hamstring injury. He has also rushed for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Williams excels at getting away from pass rush pressure and turning potential losses into big plays. That was his calling card last year and helped propel the Bears to a memorable season.
